Structured Reading and Writing
Thinking, reading, writing, discussing all make for interesting and enriched learning. Since the late ’80’s, I have continued to build on enriching my students’ learning. My path has led me on a never-ending journey. This website is simply an extension of several decades in the teaching practice, at public and private schools, as well as at both local universities, Ottawa and Carleton. Reading and writing are cornerstone skills to becoming an autonomous learner. Helping students become more proficient in both domains is my focus.
My approach encourages students to break free of the “let’s finish reading this passage already so that we can be done with the assignment” mindset; I focus instead on a process-oriented approach that fosters engagement and self-sufficiency both in and out of school. Through modeling, practicing, and feedback, students gain greater knowledge and skills.
